Thompson Egbo-Egbo

Pianist/Composer

Acclaimed pianist, composer, and bandleader Thompson Egbo-Egbo creates music rooted in storytelling, connection, and community. Born in Nigeria and raised in Canada from the age of four, he began studying piano at six years old, developing an artistic voice shaped by jazz, contemporary composition, and a deep sensitivity to collaboration and human experience.

With degrees in Music from Humber College and Music Production from Berklee College of Music, Thompson has built a multifaceted career as a performer, composer, educator, and cultural leader. His work has been featured by organizations and events including TIFF, the Luminato Festival, and the Kensington Market Jazz Festival, and he portrayed a young Oscar Peterson in a celebrated Heritage Minute production. His compositions have also been released through Audio Network’s sync library, expanding his music into film and media spaces internationally.

At the centre of Thompson’s work is a commitment to creating meaningful artistic experiences both on and off the stage. Through the Thompson T. Egbo-Egbo Arts Foundation, he supports young people through mentorship and access to music education, helping foster confidence, creativity, and self-expression through the arts. He has previously served on several boards of organizations in Toronto and currently serves in advisory and leadership capacities supporting arts and community organizations.

Whether performing in intimate listening rooms, concert venues, or community spaces, Thompson’s music is driven by emotional honesty, groove, and connection. His upcoming album, Just a Thought, releasing October 23, 2026, reflects this continued evolution — blending contemporary jazz composition with richly human storytelling and improvisation.
